2014 Business Blitz

On Tuesday May 13th our business 10/20 class went on a south Albert business blitz in Regina Saskatchewan. What is the business blitz? The business blitz is where cadewe go to store in the south Albert area that are locally owned by Regina entrepreneurs.  For our classes business blitz we visited The French press and Cade Style Lounge. The group I was in went to Cade Style Lounge first. We met the owner of the Cade store, Chelsea O’Connell. She was great, and was willing to answer any questions we had at all. She informed us that Cade is the female version of Coda. Coda was first opened in Regina selling both male and female clothes. When the company started to become more popular they separated the female and male sections. That’s when Cade opened. We also met the owner of both Cade and Coda, Colter Wood, who came up with the idea of selling international brands in small city Regina.

frenchThe second local store we visited was The French Press. The French Press is a local coffee shop, it started off in 2004 as a Java Express, then realized that they wanted to have there own menu ideas so the branched off as The French Press. The coffee machines and beans they use are all made in Regina. Soon they are also using a Regina tea brand, Tea Time. They are also creating there own unique coffee that is limited to the french press. Along with that they are changing there menu entirely.

Some changes I would make to the business blitz are that I would enjoy to have more store to go to and more time in each store. I would also want to venture out to different stores in the city than just Albert street stores.  Since we only have an hour I would make the business Blitz longer and maybe have it go over lunch or throughout the day. Overall I did enjoy the business blitz and it would be something I would enjoy to try again and visit more local stores in Regina.
